It's always interesting to compare the pacing of Marvel's various event comics and examine how quickly events are pushed along in the early issues. Books like Siege and World War Hulk hit the ground running, while those like House of M devote more time to building towards the larger conflict. Fear Itself seems a bit caught in the middle right now. Matt Fraction has laid the groundwork for the return of the Serpent and his vast campaign to terrorize Earth, but issue #2 still reads like a prelude to the big show. As such, this issue is slightly underwhelming compared to the first, but still packs in more than a few memorable moments to tide readers over for the next 30 days.
