With each new issue of Fear Itself: The Home Front, I find myself wishing more and more that the backup stories were trimmed out. The main feature starring Speedball is enjoyable enough and one of the better examples of a Fear Itself tie-in exploiting the idea of fear running rampant across America. Christos Gage has succeeded in crafting Miriam Sharpe into a real character and not just a crying woman who pressured Tony Stark to become a totalitarian jerk. Gage also brings Speedball full circle in terms of atoning and finding redemption for his crimes in Stamford. The drawback to this segment remains the same. Mike Mayhew's heavily photo-referenced art is extremely awkward and distracting.
