Here we go 鈥淎dventuring鈥?in Xanth once more, meeting a horde of the familiar characters while running the gauntlet of a multitide of sins. There is a plot, in which Wenda Woodwife is deserted by her husband, Prince Charming, and needs the help of the 鈥淕ood Magician Humphrey鈥?on her quest. The next problem is Humphrey鈥檚 needing her help on a quest of his own. So off they go on an 鈥淎dventure,鈥?the standard form any journey takes in Xanth, meeting a host of characters who sometimes help and sometimes hinder. Meanwhile, Prince Charming is in enough trouble that readers will wonder if he and Wenda will ever be reunited. Xanth remains a land of happy endings, however, and readers can expect the usual amount of enjoyment from this thirty-fourth Xanth tale.
