A lot of the emotions on being bullied come from my own feelings and experiences. Although it happened years ago, I still have a hard time looking into my tormentors' faces. The effects of bullying puts a permanent mark on the victim's soul, so while one may be able to forgive, it's impossible to forget.
Owning up to bullying, no matter how much time has passed, can do a lot to help the victim overcome the tragedy. So if you once bullied a person, or stood by and watched without helping, now would be a good time to get in contact with the victim and apologize. Who knows, you might even get to know a wonderful person who never got to be themselves around all the intimidating kids at school.
Finally, my heart goes out to those who are currently being bullied, and to those who are struggling with the aftermath. Adults too, because kids are not the only ones who get bullied.
