Superman was originally born with the name Kal-El on the distant plant of Krypton. As his home planet started to crumble, his father, who was a renowned scientist, took the little baby Kal-El and placed him in a spaceship, rocketing him off to a fate better than death. Kal-El landed on the planet Earth in a Kansas farm ran by the Kent family. The Kents raised the alien boy as their own and eventually named him Clark Kent, Superman's alter-ego, who grew up to work at The Daily Planet newspaper.
