Superman #700 is a milestone issue for a number of reasons, the least noteworthy of which is that it's the 700th issue of a series with the word Superman in the title (if you remember, the issue reverted to the numbering of Adventures of Superman a few years back). First and foremost, it finally marks the official, long-overdue end to the unfortunate, painfully overdrawn and mostly forgettable exercise in wheel spinning that was the whole New Krypton saga, which is reason enough to celebrate it as a pivotal moment in Superman's history.
