Superman #711 barely qualifies as a new chapter of "Grounded." Instead, it's a more of a side issue that does little to further the concept or push Superman along in his journey. The story sees Superman make a detour to Las Vegas to aid Jimmy Olsen and stop an out-of-control Livewire from wrecking the city.
With a few minor alterations, this issue could have taken place at any point in Superman's recent career. But frankly, at this point a decent Superman story is all I ask. Issue #711 is too generic in its execution to truly qualify there, but it does offer a nice break from the main story. Neither Jimmy nor Livewire have any real impact on Superman's journey. They merely offer a simple conflict for him to solve. The one element this issue does share with past entries is the hokey ending. Superman's speech about America being the land of opportunity and second chances is almost painfully trite.
