Jim is the kind of creator that should be ranked up there with the likes of Stan Lee. He started working for Marvel Comics at 11 years old...the only underage employee in their history...because he was that good.
Jim eventually became the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics for a good while, and during his time there he launched the Epic Comics line, the New Universe and so much more. He played a very large role in the creation of The Transformers as well (they were originally going to be named something else).
Shooter was not a favorite of the people who worked within the Marvel Comics company though. The movie division downright hated him, and there were artists and writers that he held accountable for their work that thought he had a vendetta against them...when all he wanted was the best product possible.
So he was eventually replaced. He left and started Defiant Comics. I have always been a fan, and so I bought up as many of the books as I could, but they disappeared from the shelves so quickly it was next to impossible.
