Into the Middle Ages, the great Merlin is released. He discovered that around him, much has changed. Men of the Year One thousand are no longer interested in magic and all the Christian chapels replace ancient dolmens. The small nation is dying fairies, dragons have almost disappeared. With the help of a few pints of beer and young Gwyned, a descendant of Galahad, to whom he entrusts the fabled sword Excalibur, Merlin will try to save a world of magic and enchantment gradually destroyed by the new beliefs.
After fighting the descendant of Mordred in Ireland, having escaped from the jails of papal Rome and having crossed the Alps and not without risk, Merlin & Gwyned come to the city of Ys, in the middle Britain. In the heart of this mythical city that they will be faced with a terrible conspiracy ...
Taking part in the Breton legend of the fabulous city of Ys, the authors take pleasure in diverting the original story into an adventure far more focused on comedy and the tragedy (and religious). Although sometimes lacks subtlety, humor, after four years, is still at the rendezvous. Thus, the old Merlin is true to itself (ie d. Dirty, vicious and drinker) and is a source of many comic situations. We also appreciate the return of the running gags of the series (like the one on the virginity of Gwynedd) and the reference to a famous dialogue by Andr茅 Audiart. Without raising the general hilarity, the many burlesque scenes, mixed with an action quite nervous, make this album a nice story and dynamic time. Finally, the only criticism one can make the scenario is the lack of link with the overall plot, though some elements to the end of history may suggest that the sponsors know where they go.
