As if Onslaught's return wasn't enough for lovers of infamous '90s villains, Marvel also delivers the latest chapter chronicling the return of Carnage. As with Onslaught Unleashed, Carnage is nowhere near as awful as it could be considering some of the stories Carnage has been involved in. Zeb Wells makes the most of the all-too-familiar "gender-changing villain" formula. His exploration of the mental battle between the Carnage symbiote and its new host, Tanis, is very well written and evocative of the strong work Wells delivered in his revamping of fellow Spidey rogue The Lizard last year. Few writers seem to have as strong a grasp on psychologically unhinged villains as Wells.
