Lee and Ditko created the first flawed super hero with characteristics only a sidekick would have at the time. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko continued to be the creative team of the book for 38 issues (1963 - 1966) and Stan Lee ended his run as writer of the book on issue 100. The book's run continued until issue number 441 (Nov. 1998) when Marvel relaunched the title's second volume with a #1 (Jan. 1999). On the title's 40th anniversary the numbering was reverted to go from issue 58 to issue 500
